Real Skills for Real Life

Project Overview

This survey is now closed. Thank you to everyone who participated.

'Adulting' can be hard, particularly if you don't have all the skills and knowledge you need when you get there. But what do you need to know? And how do you want to learn it?

There's lots of information out there but sometimes finding it is hard. To help us understand what sort of real life skills and information you actually want, we're seeking your feedback.

Complete our survey to have your say about what skills and knowledge you think you'll need for your adult life.

Five participants will receive a $50 gift voucher from their choice of one of the following stores:

  • JB Hi-Fi
  • Rebel Sport
  • Coles Myer
  • Target

The past….

In 2018 the Queensland Family and Child Commission launched a state-wide survey to give children and young people the opportunity to share their thoughts, views and opinions about their community, their hopes and dreams and the most important issues to them to inform the Growing up in Queensland project.

The This place I call home report captured the voices of more than 7,000 children and young people aged 4-18 years in Queensland.

The present….

Young Queenslanders told us that 'real life skills' like financial planning, work-readiness, practical and emotional wellbeing skills are important.

We are now wanting to go a step further to unpack what this means for you. To do this, we want to better understand what information young people need to help them develop as they move to young adults. We also want to know how this information can best be delivered to you.

The future….

We hope to continue to use the information you share with us to build a profile that provides valuable insight into what young people need to support Queensland's priority areas.
